Welcome to Countryside Broadband In view of the coverage restrictions, general apathy and service levels provided by other Broadband operators, a small group of interested local people has got together to set up a community scheme. This can be expanded, as other adjoining local communities wish to join. More Information This list illustrates our objectives: to ensure that the costs are as low as possible, so that it is affordable to all; to offer two-way high-speed band-width; to provide an 'un-metered' service where you are not charged for the time used, while you are connected, but have a 24 hour a day facility for a flat affordable monthly fee;. to grow and offer access to those neighbouring villages, as the more who sign on, the lesser the risk to the venture. Personal capital in excess of 50,000 has been raised to finance the venture and so far the service area provides coverage for over 3000 homes and businesses in South Oxfordshire. The project is now proceeding well; our central transmitter mast is in-situ on the landmark Woodcote Tower, owned by Thames Water, where we connect to out 'big pipe' back to the Internet.  Additionally, repeaters are installed in the Rotherfield Peppard (Wyfold Court) and Moulsford areas. This gives us tremendous coverage of the surrounding areas, but we have ambitions to add additional towers as we grow. These will help us to reach even more remote communities, or those unable to get line-of-sight with one of our transmitters, due to topological conditions. Our 'big pipe' or leased line feed comes from Reading via fibre cables and meets our network at the Woodcote transmitter and this allows our connection to Demon, our Internet Access and Mail partner We have now connected around 100 customers to the system (as at Sept 04) and continue to sign-up new customers every week. An individual property survey is a precursor to each installation, to assess local conditions and serviceability.
